The girlfriend of businessman James Stunt has been cleared of allegations of assaulting a police officer and possessing cocaine.

Helena Robinson, 24, was charged alongside Mr Stunt following an incident at their former townhouse home in Knightsbridge in August last year.

Their case was sent to for trial by jury, but the charges against Ms Robinson have now been dropped by the prosecution.

At a hearing at Inner London crown court today, prosecutor Mathew Turner said no evidence had previously been offered against Ms Robinson over the assaulting a PC allegation.

He said she was still accused of being in possession of a "small quantity of cocaine", but a review had concluded: "It is not in the public interest to proceed against her on a single count."

Judge Ian Darling entered a not guilty verdict against her, saying he had read reports about Ms Robinson and "understand entirely why the decision has been reached".

Stunt, the ex-husband Formula One heiress Petra Ecclestone, is due to go on trial in January next year on charges of possession of cocaine, harassment, criminal damage, assault, and theft. The 38-year-old, who split from Ecclestone in 2017, denies all the charges.

He was not in court for today's hearing, which Ms Robinson joined via videolink from her lawyer's office.

Stunt denies all the charges against him.
