'Common Australian mannerisms' have been have revealed in a thread on social media.

The revelations began after an American author posted anonymously on Reddit, asking for 'some general Australian behaviours' to inform their latest book that is set Down Under.

'I know you all aren't going to be the same and will have special and different personalities, I just want to know about some things Australians might do,' the post read.

The most common responses included going to Bunnings hardware stores specifically for the snags sold at its iconic sausage sizzles, having little to no respect for politicians and always being the drunkest nationality in the pub.

Others included the Australian tendency to pull together to help others in times of crisis, such as during the 2019/2020 bushfires which saw a massive show of support for animals, firefighters and those affected by the infernos.

'The video of old mate telling [Prime Minister] Scott Morrison to get off his lawn is just PEAK Australia to me,' one person wrote.

''Sorry mate' to the prime minister is just... perfection.'
