Sir Alex Ferguson believes Liverpool's Andy Robertson has been performing at an 'unbelievable' level over the past two seasons.

Robertson quickly emerged as a key player in Jurgen Klopp's side after moving to the Reds from Hull City for £8 million in the summer of 2017.

Since his arrival at the club, Liverpool have won the Champions League and Premier League, with Robertson establishing himself as one of the best left-backs in world football.

And this summer the full-back will also represent his country in the upcoming European Championships set to be held across Europe.

Scotland have been drawn in a tough group which also includes World Cup finalists Croatia, the Czech Republic and old rivals England.

And Ferguson believes because of players like Robertson, Kieran Tierney and Scott McTominay, Scotland will enter the tournament with stars who will be coveted by all other nations.

He said: "They have been playing quite well. I think it's the old story, the scoring of goals. Their performance level has been very good, I have been impressed.

"I look at the midfield players and I think they are as good as anyone, players playing in England.

"And (Kieran) Tierney has been fantastic at Arsenal, absolutely fantastic, (Andy) Robertson the last two years at Liverpool has been unbelievable.

"And (John) McGinn coming through at Aston Villa has been fantastic. (Kenny) McLean at Norwich has had a great season."

Before the former Manchester United boss concluded: "So I'm optimistic. The important thing about the home games is, I know it's only 12,000 people, but 12,000 at Hampden when they get going is like 50,000 at Wembley. We can create the atmosphere all right."
