Motherwell boss Graham Alexander was delighted to see Mark O'Hara bag the winner in last night's 1-0 derby win at Hamilton, and admits the side have missed his contribution.

O'Hara popped up in 37 minutes to sent a Christopher Long pass into the bottom left corner of the net to finally take the bragging rights after three previous derby defeats this season.

The former Livingston midfielder played in Graham Alexander's first game in charge, a 1-1 draw at St Mirren back in January, but a concussion sustained in that game kept him out for several weeks and he has been used sparingly since.

But Alexander was delighted to see O'Hara 'back out there, doing what he does best'.

He said: "We've missed him. He played in our first game and that was it, we didn't see him again for two months with his injury and a little bit of illness and stuff.

"He has shown in training a great desire to try and get back in the team, we know his quality, his physical aspects, and he has great feet as well.

"We felt we needed to bring a couple of fresh pairs of legs in today with him and Tyler Magloire.

"Mark's got the winning goal and I thought he was a threat to them all game, to be fair, running on from midfield, and it's great to see him back out there, doing what he does best."

Meanwhile, Motherwell now turn their attention to Saturday's Scottish Cup quarter-final tie at Hibernian, and Alexander says they'll give it their best shot to get through.

He said: "The next game is the cup, we've got to give it our best shot to try and try and stay in the cup competition, but it will be a tough game. We've already had a tough game over there during my time and I doubt if the challenge will be any easier this time.

"We just go into every game, regardless of the competition and try to win it. We wont change that sort of outlook.

"The plan is to win on Saturday, get through that game, win that game, that's it. I don't want to judge our season on how we've done until the end, until we've played every game.

"I think it's really important for us to not think anything's done.

"We obviously know where the maximum point we can finish in the season is, so we want to do that, that's the aim for us, but we can only take one game as it comes."
