Visitors turned away from Scottish beauty spot over safety concerns as parking reaches full capacity

People are being advised to avoid the B837 leading to Loch Lomond as parking in the area has reached full capacity and parked vehicles have become a safety concern.

Staff at Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park advised residents to "plan ahead" before the weekend as restrictions on travel and outdoor meetups eased on Friday.

In Scotland it is now possible to meet up with six people from six different households and to travel anywhere in the country - provided it doesn't involve an overnight stay elsewhere.

A police spokesman said: "Vehicle access to the B837 from Drymen to Balmaha will be restricted for the rest of the day. The area has reached capacity and parked vehicles are causing safety issues. People are being advised to avoid the area, however residents will still be able to gain access.

Cairngorms National Park also released a warning for visitors to "behave responsibly" and to "have a plan B" ahead of the weekend if popular walking spots were too busy.
