Manchester United have received a boost in their reported pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Andre Silva.

The 25-year-old Portugal international has been in sensational goal scoring form since arriving on loan from AC Milan last season, and signed a three year deal to join the Bundesliga club last summer.

And according to Sport 1 the prolific marksman has a £26 million release clause, that can be triggered this summer.

Silva has notched an impressive 24 goals and nine assists in all competitions this season, and is rumoured to be on the Red Devils' radar.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be tempted to go into the market for a striker this summer, with the futures of his current forward line uncertain.

It remains unclear whether Edinson Cavani will stay at Old Trafford next season. The 34-year-old signed a one year deal last summer and whilst there is an option to extend it; the Uruguayan has been linked with a return to South America.

Anthony Martial could also potentially be on the move after a lacklustre campaign, the France forward has only scored seven goals in all competitions this season.

Bruno Fernandes is United's top scorer so far this season with 24 goals in all competitions, whilst Marcus Rashford is in second place having found the net on 20 occasions.

No other United player has managed to get into double figures yet.

Silva told O Jogo earlier this month that talk of a move to Manchester United provided him with added motivation.

'I've heard rumours, but that is it. Rumours are rumours. Said Silva

'At the end of this season, it's something that gives me more motivation to work - it's a sign that what I have accomplished has borne fruit, and the path has been good.'
