Paul Momirovski hit with grade two dangerous contact charge

Penrith Panthers centre Paul Momirovski has been hit with a grade two dangerous contact charge for his late hit on Broncos half Tom Dearden.

In the 16th minute of the Panthers' tight victory over the Broncos, Momirovski caught Dearden with a high shot shortly after the Broncos half put in a kick.

The incident went unpunished on the field, leaving many fans and commentators bemused by how the referees missed it.

However, the judiciary have seen fit to slap Momirovski with a grade two charge.

As he has no priors, Momirovski is set to miss two weeks with an early guilty plea. If he fights the charge and is found guilty, he could face three weeks on the sidelines.

"Momirovski definitely takes high Dearden out late and it looked a little dangerous," Braith Anasta said on the Fox League broadcast.

"Usually given a penalty I would think. They've missed on there."

It opens the door for Brent Naden to make his return to Penrith's first grade side for the first time since the 2020 grand final.

Naden was hit with a suspension and a fine after returning a positive cocaine result post-match.
