Real Madrid predicted line-up against Liverpool after big injury boost

Real Madrid have been handed a boost heading into tonight's Champions League clash with Liverpool.

That is because Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that Federico Valverde is fit and available to play at Anfield. Valverde suffered a knock in the win over Barcelona at the weekend and was a doubt following El Clasico on Saturday night.

However, Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane both remain absent, with Ramos now having also tested positive for Covid having missed last week's game with a calf injury.

While Frenchman Varane still remains sidelined after testing positive for coronavirus ahead of the first-leg at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium.

Lucas Vazquez, who has been deputising at right-back, is also set to miss the game after suffering an injury in his side's 2-1 win over Barcelona.

There is also no place in the Real squad for Eden Hazard, with the former Chelsea forward still recovering from an ankle problem.

Liverpool trail 3-1 from the first-leg in the Spanish capital, with Mohamed Salah scoring what could be a vital away goal.

And below is how Zidane's side could line-up at Anfield this evening...

Goalkeeper and Defence

It is hard not to imagine that Thibaut Courtois will once again start in goal for the Real at Anfield.

While at centre-back, Eder Militao and Nacho will surely be given the nod with Ramos and Varane still missing.

Out wide, it is hard not to see Ferland Mendy start, as he did last week, at left-back, while Alvaro Odriozola is expected to start at right-back.

Odriozola replaced Vazquez at the weekend and immediately slotted in at right-back in place of the 29-year-old.

Midfield and Attack

Given the success Real had in the middle of the pitch and up top last week it will surely be a case of more of the same again for Zidane's side.

Toni Kroos appears to overcome a knock he picked up against Barca at the weekend and is expected to partner Luka Modric and Casemiro in a three man midfield.

While Real's three man attack will surely be made up of last week's hero Vinicius Junior, Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio.

Possible line-up: Courtois; Odriozola, Militao, Nacho, Mendy; Kroos, Modric, Casemiro; Asensio, Benzema, Vinicius.
