However, it was given a spectacular return to the spotlight when Prince Harry's wife, former-actress Meghan Markle, wore it to her wedding reception.

The Duchess of Sussex changed from her Givenchy ceremony gown into a Stella McCartney halterneck gown for her wedding reception at Frogmore Cottage.

The Prince and his new bride stepped into an antique sports car to drive to the reception.

As the newlywed waved to gathered crowds of happy Britons, she waves.

The aquamarine gem sparkled on her finger, the blue an eye-catching contrast to her pure white gown.

Jewellery expert Charlotte White from 77 Diamonds analysed stunning bring.

She told Express.co.uk: "This aquamarine ring is estimated at around 30ct, and features two smaller diamonds on either side that create a stunning trilogy effect.

"It has a fine ocean-blue colour that is very sought-after, as this gem is said to bring the wearer peace and tranquillity."

Charlotte valued the ring at £50,000, taking into account it's links to both Princess Diana and Meghan.

It's Mayfair price listing according to Charlotte, is £18,000.

However, 77 Diamonds could recreate the piece for £7,000, they claim.

Charlotte White analysed more pieces from Meghan's collection, including her engagement ring and numerous bracelets.

Two of the stones in Meghan's engagement ring are said to be from Diana's collecton.

Charlotte said: "The centre stone is surrounded by two round diamonds, estimated at just under a carat each. Allegedly, these stones are from Diana's tennis bracelet.

"The centre stone is a stunning 3ct diamond famously sourced from Botswana, one of the first places Harry and Meghan went as a couple."
