Jack Grealish is reportedly set to miss out on the rest of April for Aston Villa due to injury - but remains confident he will be fit enough for Euro 2020 this summer.

The 25-year-old has missed Villa's last seven games, and all three of England's World Cup qualifiers, after sustaining a shin problem.

And The Sun have claimed Grealish will continue to sit out until next month after struggling with his recovery, although his Three Lions aspirations remain strong.

According to the same source, Villa's star man was expected to return to action against Fulham last weekend.

It is believed, however, that recent discomfort with his shin has forced doctors to advise him to take another three weeks off.

Sportsmail has previously revealed that Grealish is still being lined up for a key role under Gareth Southgate at the rescheduled European Championship.

The expectation that the Villa academy graduate is due to make his comeback this season, despite the rumours of the setback, will boost both club and country.

Villa are planning to use an upcoming 11-day break, between clashes against Liverpool and Manchester City, to help Grealish get back up to speed, The Sun say.

The trip to Everton on May 1 has been chosen as the most likely date for Grealish to next feature.

There is purportedly a feeling at the club that Grealish's shin injury has been tougher to predict than other, more common, muscle problems.

Mid-table Villa will also take on Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea towards the end of the campaign - with Grealish braced to impress again before the Euros.

Boss Southgate is said to be aware, and content, with the situation unfolding for the Birmingham-born talisman, and will trust him against top opposition.

As reported by Sportsmail, the internationals last November are believed to have been Grealish's main audition for a burgeoning role in Southgate's senior group.

Despite having earned just five caps so far, Grealish dazzled against the Republic of Ireland, Belgium and Iceland to press home his claim.

There is expected to be no danger of Grealish, who has scored six Premier League goals this campaign, missing out on the squad for the tournament this summer.
