Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie accused President Joe Biden of "lying" about what is in the recently passed Georgia voting law.

During a panel on ABC's This Week on Sunday, Christie said Biden has "broken his own rule" about stating the truth. The Republican, who briefly ran for the Republican presidential nomination in the 2016 cycle, said Biden is "lying to the American people" about what the law that conservatives have touted the measure as policy that makes it easy to vote and hard to cheat.

"He's lying about this bill, he's lying to the American people about it, to cause the raging fire he said he was going to put out. I'm very disappointed," the former governor told host George Stephanopoulos.

"He is doing exactly what he sat around in the campaign and the transition and accused Donald Trump of doing. He is lying to cause racial divisions in this country. That's what he accused Donald Trump of doing and he's a liar and a hypocrite," Christie also said.

Yvette Simpson, the CEO of liberal advocacy group Democracy for America, shot back at Christie. "You should ask the people who know. I've been doing voter protection for 10 years. Just the idea that you can't get people water in line.," she said.

GEORGIA GOVERNOR INSISTS BOYCOTT WON'T AFFECT NEW VOTING LAW: 'WE ARE NOT BACKING DOWN'

"That's not true," Christie said.

According to the voting reform law, members from politically affiliated groups can be punished with a misdemeanor for handing out water or other items to voters waiting in line at polling stations. The law does not prevent election workers from setting up food or water stations at polling centers.

Later during the panel session, former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said he disagreed with Christie's comments, adding, "Joe Biden's not a liar."

"We just spent four years with a person who literally couldn't find the truth if it said 'choo-choo' in front of him in the morning," Emanuel said, referring to former President Donald Trump.

In late March, Biden said he was "convinced that we'll be able to stop" the recently passed voting law measure signed by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp. "This [policy] makes Jim Crow look like Jim Eagle," the president added.

Voting rights activists and figures like one-time gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams have also repeated claims the law - which largely requires voters requesting an absentee ballot to provide a driver's license or state ID number - disenfranchises voters in lower income and minority communities.

"Well, Stacey Abrams, by the way, Stacey Abrams was in New Jersey, in my state, praising Phil Murphy this week for a voting law where New Jersey early voting is nine days. Half, half of what Georgia is, Christie said. "Yet she's on TV in New Jersey - I saw it myself - saying that this is one of the greatest voting expansion bills we've ever seen, but this is Jim Crow? I'm sorry, George."

Kemp, a Republican, has vowed not to bow to pressure coming from Democrats, corporate interests, and the MLB, which pulled its All-Star Game and draft from Atlanta this year in protest of the law. Biden said he would "strongly support" such a move. Meanwhile, Trump called for a baseball boycott.
