© Provided by The Independent Britney Spears has responded to claims she didn't write a recent Instagram post criticising her portrayal in Framing Britney Spears.
The documentary, released in February, examines the "Baby One More Time" star's career and the #FreeBritney movement that campaigns against her ongoing conservatorship.
It features comedians Tess Barker and Barbara Gray, who launched a podcast based on Spears' Instagram posts, some of which they believed contained secret messages about her true feelings on her situation.
Earlier this week, Speaks broke her silence about the documentary, saying she was "embarrassed" by what she saw. However, many of her fans felt the post had been written for her, or that she had been told to criticise the documentary.
"I didn't watch the documentary, but from what I did see of it I was embarrassed by the light they put me in," she wrote, adding: "I cried for two weeks and, well .... I still cry sometimes !!!!"

Backing up fan concern that Spears was not actually behind the post was the "Toxic" singer's former makeup artist Billy Brasfield, who told Page Six: "I immediately knew it was not her. I texted her about it and she texted me back last night."

He added: "What was upsetting [about the post] - it was basically a narrative denouncing her fans and the Free Britney movement and people now taking a very conscious look at the facts and what is going on."
Spears has now denied communicating with Brasfield in a statement to TMZ that read:"No, I'm not talking to him at all. I write my posts. I'm not sure who he is talking to, but I am not talking to Billy B."
Since arriving in February, Framing Britney Spears has re-inspired a mainstream discussion around how Spears's life has been controlled by her court-ordered conservatorship, which has been in place since 2008.

Recently, the 39-year-old's lawyer officially asked an LA judge to permanently remove her father, Jamie Spears, from his role overseeing her personal affairs.
Jamie had been in control of both the star's financial and personal affairs before stepping down from the latter role in September 2019 due to health reasons.
