Former Borussia Dortmund boss Lucien Favre is reportedly keen on becoming Celtic's next manager.

The 63-year-old was binned by the Bundesliga big-hitters back in December after a wretched run of results including a thumping 5-1 defeat at home to Stuttgart.

But Favre has forged a formidable reputation as one of the finest coaches in European football after impressive stints with Borussia Monchengladbach and Nice.

Celtic principal shareholder Dermot Desmond is leading the search for the club's next boss with Roy Keane and Eddie Howe the betting favourites to succeed Neil Lennon.

And the Daily Mail state that Favre has thrown his hat into the ring with the former Premiership champions seeking a manager who can carry the fight to Steven Gerrard's resurgent Rangers.

The link with Celtic comes with Favre emerging as the red-hot favourite to become the next Lyon boss when Rudi Garcia departs in the summer.

But Favre's interest in heading to Glasgow may tempt the Parkhead board due to his pleasing style of football, enviable contact book and success at multiple clubs.

Meanwhile, Arsenal legend Theirry Henry has declared he is available if Hoops hierarchy want to talk about their managerial vacancy.

Speaking on the The Robbie Fowler Podcast, he said: "To go back to what you asked, I have massive respect for both clubs, but I'm just trying to wait and see.

"I am available, and I don't know what's going to come my way but I want to coach for sure."
