Colorado police say they are responding to an active shooter at a supermarket.  

Police in Boulder tweeted Monday afternoon that the shooter is inside a King Soopers grocery store.

'ALERT: Active Shooter at the King Soopers on Table Mesa. AVOID THE AREA. PIO is en-route,' officers from the Boulder Police Department tweeted just before 3pm local time. 

A shirtless man with blood running down his leg was escorted out of the store in handcuffs by two police officers, a live TV feed showed. But it's unclear if he is the suspected gunman. 

Television helicopter video showed many law enforcement vehicles and officers outside the store and at least three helicopters on the building's roof.

Law enforcement SWAT teams from Jefferson County and Boulder were dispatched to the market in the southern part of the city of Boulder. 

In one video, police are heard announcing: 'The entire building is surrounded. You need to surrender. Come out with your hands up, unarmed.' 

Aerial footage showed several medical evacuation helicopters landing in the area.

The windows of the store appear to be broken, according to a bystander live video on YouTube.    

According to BNO News, there are reports of 'multiple people down'. There are also reports of there being 'multiple shooters inside' the store.  

Another video of the incident from YouTube shows two victims lying on the ground in the parking lot of the store. 

At least one victim is seen lying on the floor inside the store just moments before more gunshots are heard. Local reports say one victim is a police officer.

The King Soopers supermarket is a brand of Kroger in the Rocky Mountain area. 

The store where the incident is unfolding is located at 3600 Table Mesa Drive.
