The Porsche Taycan is one of the quickest new cars on sale today. It can go from zero to 60 in well under three seconds and cross the quarter-mile in under 11. But thanks to two turbos, stick drag radials, and a handful of other mods, the C8 Corvette can be just as quick.
Hoonigan brought together a Taycan Turbo-not a Turbo S, importantly-and the quickest C8 Corvette on the planet for a head-to-head drag race to see which would be quicker. The C8 in question, built and driven by YouTuber Emelia Hartford, made 1022 horsepower on a dyno earlier this year, and broke the record for quickest C8 in the quarter-mile soon after. If any C8 can beat the Taycan in a drag race, it's this one.

The rear-drive twin-turbo Corvette can hold its own against Porsche's all-electric missile on wheels.
In the first of three 1000-foot runway races, the Taycan eeks out a win, grabbing the checkered flag by half a car length. While the C8 benefits from those sticky drag slicks, the Taycan still gets a better launch thanks to its instant electric torque and all-wheel-drive.
The second race goes similarly, except it's the Corvette that squeezes out the win. The tie-breaking third race is where things get interesting. The two cars finish so evenly that it's too close to call. The Hoonigan team has to go back and review the footage to find out who won. It
If the Taycan in question had been a Turbo S instead of a base Turbo, it might've won. The Turbo S has a special launch mode that turns power up to 750 horses over the standard 616, which likely would've been enough to push it over the edge. But it wasn't, so the C8 took the win.
