Former soap star Jessica Plummer has gone on to land her biggest role yet in a new BBC drama, The Girl Before. The news comes following her stint in the Welsh castle on last year's I'm A Celebrity. Get Me Out Of Here!

The 28 year old actress is best known for playing Chantelle Atkins on the long-running BBC One soap EastEnders.

Following in the footsteps of Michelle Keegan and Jenna Coleman, it looks as though the star has left the land of soaps behind as she secures her biggest role to date.

Jessica will star in The Girl Before - a new BBC drama - alongside David Oyelowo and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

We couldn't be more thrilled for Jessica in her new role after meeting the star for an exclusive shoot with her and her daughter Noa.

The mum-of-one is also the latest celeb to pick her favourite products for the OK! Beauty Edit. Tune into our Instagram live (@ok_mag) on Thursday 18th March at 7.30pm to ask Jess any of your burning beauty questions.

The Girl Before, which is a four-part series, is an adaptation of JP Delaney's novel of the same name. It's set in a gorgeous townhouse,One Folgate Street, owned by a controlling architect played by David.

The series is being made in collaboration with HBO and follows the story of Jane - played by Gugu - who stumbles upon the opportunity of a lifetime to live in this ultra-minimalist haven as long as she abides by a rigid set of rules.

Jessica plays "the girl before" who lived in the house before Jane and went through the same experience.

A TV insider told The Sun: "This is a real gem of a role for Jessica, and it just goes to show the promotional power of a show like I'm A Celebrity."

They added that Jessica "obviously has an acting pedigree after appearing on EastEnders, but going into 'the castle' will have helped put her on the radar of so many more casting directors.

"Jessica also has plenty of inspiration when it comes to making the jump from soaps to other dramas," said the source.

Could she be following in the footsteps of Michelle Keegan, Jenna Coleman and Suranne Jones?

Michelle Keegan used Coronation Street as her training ground before going on to star in Our Girl, Tina and Bobby and Ordinary Lies. Suranne Jones also went onto great things after stomping the cobbles. She starred in Unforgiven and even won a BAFTA's TV award for Best Actress for her part in Doctor Foster.

Similarly, Emmerdale's Jenna Coleman made the leap from soap to stardom when she appeared in BBC One and Netflix's The Serpent.
