Abubakar Salim Melissa Phillips
Electronic Arts' EA Originals label has partnered with independent studio Silver Rain Games to fund and publish its next project.
Assassins Creed: Valhalla voice actor Abubakar Salim founded the U.K.-based studio in 2019 to create innovative games across different mediums. It is headed by co-founder Melissa Phillips, formerly a BAFTA Games program manager.
"In what has been a challenging year, we have assembled an extraordinarily creative and worldly team who are eager to work on projects that bring their global perspectives to life," Salim said in a statement. "Together we will construct an exciting universe that unlocks the power of storytelling and the brilliance that brings. We couldn't be happier to work with the EA Originals team, who are phenomenal partners for us as we begin this journey. Not only does each of them understand our vision to inspire and entertain, but they also welcome this exciting new age of game development."

The companies are not disclosing details of the IP that will form the basis for Silver Rain Games' next project.
Salim has voiced characters in the video games World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth and Assassin's Creed: Origins. On screen, he is known for his roles in the HBO sci-fi drama Raised By Wolves and Sky One's historical series Jamestown.

California-based Electronic Arts is known for properties such as Apex Legends and The Sims. EA Originals' titles include Cornelia Geppert's emotional adventure Sea of Solitude and the upcoming dodgeball battle game Knockout City and stop-motion inspired title Lost in Random.
