Actor Louis Emerick, who played Mick Johnson, has carved out a very impressive career since bowing out of Brookside.

Since his time on the Liverpool-based soap, Louis's credits have included Casualty, which cast him as Mike, the fireman husband of Tess Bateman, the long running character played by Suzanne Packer, who'd found fame as Mick's wife Josie.

He's also been seen in Coronation Street and Zapped, and he's back on the box this week in BBC series Moving On.

The long running series, written by Jimmy McGovern, is now on its twelfth instalment and Louis will take on the role of Eddie in an episode called Get Fit or Try Lying.

But Louis hasn't just made a name for himself on the small screen, and last year revealed he'd been cast in Hollywood movie, Kung Fury 2, alongside A listers Arnold Schwarzenegger and Michael Fassbender.

Best known as Brookside's Thomas 'Sinbad' Sweeney, the character he played for 16 years, star Michael Starke was a firm fan favourite.

So they'll be pleased to hear he's also in the cast of Moving On alongside his former Brookie co-star Louis. In the very same episode, Michael will play another character called Shaun.

Just like Louis, Michael has been a regular on our screens since he finished on the soap in 2000 with credits such as Casualty, Benidorm and Virtues. He also had a long running role in The Royal, the Heartbeat spin-off also starring Michelle Hardwick.

Keen musician Michael has also taken on roles on stages up and down the country, including in much-loved musicals Hairspray and Sister Act.

Alexandra Fletcher was a Brookside regular as Jacqui Dixon, having joined the cast when she was just twelve years old.

After the show ended in 2003, Alexandra went on to continue her TV work, landing guest roles in shows like Doctors, and also turned presenter for a stint on ITV's Loose Women. In the same year she married Neil Davies, who'd played Jacqui's boyfriend in Brookside, and the pair have two children.

Deciding to take some time away from the spotlight, Alex trained and qualified as a fitness instructor.

Since, she's made her big TV comeback, swapping Brookside for the streets of Chester in Channel 4's Hollyoaks as one of the show's main characters Diane O'Connor and has also stepped up to the challenge of Celebrity MasterChef.

Claire Sweeney

Arguably one of Brookside's most successful alumni, Claire Sweeney will be no stranger to TV and musical fans.

After being thrust into the spotlight as the soap's Lindsey Corkhill, Claire went on to sign up to 2001's Celebrity Big Brother, which led to lots of lucrative work.

The star, who is also a singer, landed the role of Roxie Hart in musical Chicago and released her own music and has starred in musicals ever since.

And, showing she's quite the triple threat, Claire, who also took part in Strictly Come Dancing, also added presenting to her C.V, as the host of 60 Minute Makeover and a panelist on Loose Women.

Claire's most recent TV role was in BBC One comedy Scarborough, alongside the likes of Jason Manford and Catherine Tyldesley.

Moving On airs weekdays at 2.15pm on BBC One. All episodes are also available on BBC iPlayer
