Piers Morgan's Life Stories will not be airing on Thursday night, where it usually holds a 9pm slot on ITV.

The show has been replaced in the TV schedule by Lorraine Kelly's documentary to commemorate the 25th anniversary since the Dunblane school massacre.

Return to Dunblane with Lorraine Kelly airs on Thursday at 9pm instead, and Piers' show was always intended to take a week off.

Life Stories returns on Thursday 18th March, where Piers, 55, will be interviewing Coleen Nolan.

However, the show being replaced coincides with what has been a scandalous week for Piers, who received fierce criticism over his remarks about Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Piers said he "didn't believe a word" of Meghan's claims she felt suicidal while pregnant with baby Archie, who she shares with husband Prince Harry.

He also rejected her claims of racism within the Royal Family as one member expressed "concerns" over how dark Archie's skin colour would be,

Piers' Good Morning Britain co star Alex Beresford, 41, stood up to him in a fiery debate on air, branding his behaviour "diabolical" and pointing out Piers' personal dislike for Meghan after she 'ghosted" him following a dinner date.

Piers got up and stormed off the GMB set, furiously ranting "I am done with this," before quitting his hosting role on the show that night.

An ITV statement read: "Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.

"ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add."

Speaking outside his his London home the following morning, Piers said: "I had a good chat with ITV and we agreed to disagree.

"I'm just going to take it easy and see how we go.

"I believe in freedom of speech, I believe in the right to be allowed to have an opinion. If people want to believe Meghan Markle, that's entirely their right.

"I don't believe almost anything that comes out of her mouth and I think the damage she's done to the British monarchy and to the Queen at a time when Prince Philip is lying in hospital is enormous and frankly contemptible."

Alex has since spoken out about the incident, saying he had hoped Piers would not quit, and rather wanted him to learn from it.

He described his on-air relationship with Piers as both "lively" and "cheeky" and insisted he's sorry to see him go despite their difference of opinions.
