America still loves the Gipper.

Thirty-two years after he turned the White House over to his vice president, the newly inaugurated President George H.W. Bush, a new survey said that former President Ronald Reagan is viewed more favorably than any recent president, including former Presidents Obama and Trump.

Overall, 70% said Reagan was the best followed by both Bushes, an unusually good ranking for the father-son presidents.

Trump was last among the eight presidents tested, with an approval rating of 46%, just below President Biden at 53% in the survey done for the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute.

However, among Republicans, Reagan just edged out Trump, 88% to 84%.

"Among Republicans, Reagan (88% favorable) narrowly edges Trump (84%) for the top spot. Reagan is also among the leaders in crossover appeal, as 55% of Democrats view him favorably - identical to the 55% who view George W. Bush favorably and a hair behind the 57% who hold a positive view of George H.W. Bush," said the analysis from pollsters Daron Shaw and Chris Anderson.

As president, Trump sometimes topped Reagan, who died in 2004, among Republicans in polls.
