Susan Sarandon has laid out her criteria for a future partner, and a COVID-19 vaccination is top of mind.

The actress, 72, detailed what she's looking for during a conversation with host Caroline Stanbury on her Divorced Not Dead podcast.

"Someone who's been vaccinated for COVID," Sarandon told Stanbury.

"I don't care if it's a man or a woman. I mean, I'm open to all age, all colour. And those for me, those things are just details. But what I'm interested in is someone who wants to be adventuresome."

Sarandon has been in numerous high-profile relationships. She was married to Chris Sarandon between 1967 and 1979 before having a relationship with Italian director Franco Amurri, who is the father of her daughter Eva Amurri, 35.

She then dated Tim Robbins for 23 years, and shares children Jack Henry Robbins, 31, and musician and actor Miles Robbins, 28, with the famous actor.

Her last long-term relationship was with director Jonathan Bricklin, which ended in 2015.

Sarandon also stressed she'd like to be with someone who "is passionate about what they do."

"They could be a school teacher, or they could be a writer or they could be successful or not successful," she said, adding they have to be "somebody who owns themselves and isn't gonna be intimidated by people coming up to [me] on the street and saying, 'Oh my God, I love you.'"

However, these days the actress is perfectly content being on her own.

"I'm kind of getting off on being by myself," she said. "I think I'm pretty open to the idea of being with someone, but, you know, it certainly would take someone extraordinary to share my medicine cabinet at this point. I think that those days are over."
