Drivers are facing significant delays travelling into Sydney this morning due to two unrelated incidents on major roads.

Traffic came to a grinding halt in Sydney's Upper North Shore this morning after a truck crash caused wires to land on the road near Kissing Point Road in Turramurra.

Two of three northbound lanes along the Pacific highway remain closed three hours after the initial accident.

Traffic was backed up nearly three kilometres from the crash site with cars being diverted through local roads.

Drivers are being told to use Pennant Hills road or NorthConnex tunnel to ease delays.

Meanwhile, two of three southbound lanes are closed on the M1 Pacific Motorway at Wyong due to a loose expansion joint that has damaged the road surface just south of Allison Road.

Motorists are advised to allow plenty of extra travel time with more than eight kilometres of delays.

The repairs are expected to continue throughout the morning peak period and could take more than eight hours to fix.
