© Provided by Washington Examiner White House press secretary Jen Psaki sparred with Fox News reporter Peter Doocy over migrant detention centers being open at full capacity while schools are closed amid the coronavirus pandemic.
"Does the White House think it's a problem that when the CDC tells these migrant shelter facilities that they can be at full capacity if they are careful about COVID ... but when the CDC tells schools they can open in person at full capacity, many of them don't?" Doocy asked Psaki in the White House briefing room on Wednesday.
"Is there a school in particular that ... didn't do that?" Psaki responded, to which Doocy asked: "Are most schools in this country at full capacity with in-person learning?"

Psaki then argued that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention merely issued mitigation guidelines that schools can follow in order to reopen. She also insisted that many of the schools need more funding in order to reopen, which President Biden has often stated.
Doocy asked Psaki if Border Patrol unions have been easier to work with than the teachers unions, which have been the largest roadblocks to reopening schools.
Psaki told Doocy he was "mixing different circumstances" and then laughed when Doocy said both situations involve children in tight quarters.
"It's not funny," Doocy said after Psaki laughed.

"They are different circumstances," Psaki explained.
Last week, the CDC lifted pandemic restrictions at migrant detention centers where thousands of children are being held and now permits them to operate at full capacity.
A memo issued by the agency said detention centers "should plan for and expect to have COVID-19 cases" as a result of the tight quarters.
