Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting on Twitter to an interview with Mauricio Pochettino's assistant manager at Spurs, Jesus Perez.

Pochettino was sacked by Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy after a disappointing start to the 2019/20 campaign left the north London outfit sitting in 14th position in the Premier League table, despite taking Spurs to a Champions League final just a few months prior.

The Argentine became a fans' favourite at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during his five-year stay with the club, and many supporters were upset to see the 49-year-old depart.

Therefore, comments made by Perez in a recent interview with the Evening Standard have got several fans excited. Speaking to Dan Kilpatrick, the Spaniard said: "Mauricio and Daniel still text each other, and they have a very good relationship. We don't have any bad feelings with Daniel. The other way around. It was a professional decision.

"At some point, we had to split, but we will be back at Spurs for sure." The comments were shared online by The Spurs Express and have got many fans hoping for a potential reunion.

"I hope so. Come home, papa"

"'We will be back at Spurs for sure' Hearing this makes my heart sing. I'm not crying, you are."

@MattyFrench82

"Ideally, he'll be back when Daniel is gone. Can't be dealing with Daniel holding him back again. Get a proper football person at the top supporting Poch and watch him fly"

@AltuKop

"Hope both Spurs and Poch get success and trophies separately. Down the line after a few years it will be the perfect marriage again."

@trvchandru

"My day has been officially made"

@jacobfjoseph1

"How's tomorrow? Would love them back."

@AndrewGold_ok

"I could actually cry with happiness"

Pochettino has made a decent start to his new job with Paris Saint-Germain, defeating Barcelona 4-1 at Camp Nou, but after his work in the French capital is finished, a return to Tottenham would surely be tempting.
