Ruby Rose has spoken about her role on the comedy film 1UP.

The former Batwoman star took over the role from Elliot Page after he stepped away from the production.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy for SAS: Red Notice, Ruby confirmed she'd finished filming 1UP, which delves into the world of college esports.

Speaking of how she landed the role following Elliot's departure, she said prior to the movie's release on Sky Cinema this Friday (March 12): "Actually, the role came to me because I had told the guys that did The Doorman over and over again how much I wanted to do a comedy, and do some other roles that weren't just, you know, killing people and kicking butt and taking names.

"I would like to do some other things. And this is a project that they were also producing. It's a comedy. It's a sort of coming-of-age film."

She added: "I play a teacher, and it's really sweet. It's really cute. It's got so much to it. I read the script, and went, 'OK, I have to do this film. This is exactly what I want to do.'"

And it sounds like she's been very busy as of late, as Ruby continued: "I also finished another film called Vanquish. And I started another.

"I am really looking and hoping that, you know, we can get more scripts, and I can get more opportunities to play characters that, you know, my younger family members can watch, and my grandma can watch, and people who can't necessarily watch the extremities of death and survival and action and all the rest of the fun things I can do."

The film tells the story of Valerie Lee who is fed up of the sexism and gaslighting on her college esports team.

After quitting the team, she discovers she won't get her scholarship but makes the most of a loophole by putting together an all-female team of expert gamers.

SAS: Red Notice is available to watch on Sky Cinema and NOW TV from March 12.
