Players both competitive and casual celebrate Warzone's anniversary Wednesday, for the battle royale title turns one after being released on March 10, 2020. What was set to be one of the largest battle royales experienced has certainly lived up through the hype. Despite numerous problems with hackers, bugs, and game-breaking glitches, the Call of Duty community has remained as loyal as ever to their beloved franchise.
Warzone Anniversary: Battle Royale Title turns One on March 10
The rumors have been piling up for what event will happen in Verdansk on March 11, perhaps bringing the beginning of the end to the chilled wasteland. With the opening of several silos across the map, in addition to the Outbreak event and the new Shipwreck location, many players have theorized that a nuclear event will occur - completely destroying Verdansk.
While it's possible that we'll see a new map in the near future, it's less likely to occur mid season. Considering that known Call of Duty dataminer ZestyCODLeaks found audio leaks that hint at new modes called "Plague" and "Sandbox," it's probable that we'll be here for a bit longer. After all, the percentage of zombies that are part of the map is still at five percent (percentage can be found inside the nuclear silo locations).
Nonetheless, we've seen a lot of changes to the game itself since its launch a year ago. Meta-weapon shifts, new weapons added every season, buffs and nerfs to balance out as much of the game as possible. Limited time modes and a slow-building narrative to make sense of it all.
While Verdansk's time may be coming to a close soon, Warzone is here to stay. We look forward to the future and how this game will continue to evolve.
