While Coming 2 America has only been out for a few days now on Amazon Prime Video, it has already proved a huge success.
The long-awaited Eddie Murphy sequel is not only the top streamed movie of the weekend since its debut on March 4, but has also achieved the number one streaming opening weekend of both 2021 and the last 12 months - on any platform.
That's according to Screen Engine/ASI, and while they haven't disclosed exact figures, the movie has beaten the opening weekends of big hitters Borat Subsequent Moviefilm and Wonder Woman 1984.

Coming 2 America sees Murphy reprise his role as King Akeem from the 1988 original as he heads back to New York alongside trusted confidante Semmi (Arsenio Hall) in search of his long-lost son.

James Earl Jones, Shari Headley, John Amos and Louie Anderson all return, while Wesley Snipes, Leslie Jones, KiKi Layne, Tracy Morgan, Jermaine Fowler, Bella Murphy, Rotimi, Nomzamo Mbatha and Teyana Taylor join the cast.
In Digital Spy's three-star review, we wrote: "Coming 2 America doesn't entirely capture the magic of its predecessor. But, fans of the original will enjoy the modern twist and callbacks to the first movie sprinkled throughout."
