The grand six-bedroom family home is just 15 miles from central London near Croydon and has a guide price of £2,950,000. According to Knight Frank Addington House is one of Britain's oldest continuously inhabited homes. Since 1450 when King Henry VI was on the throne the property has seen an almost unbroken occupation.

According to records, the property was first extended with an additional floor in the 1600s.

The grand property has been expanded and modernised over time but has retained many original features, including a 15th century staircase and 16th century cupboard.

The earliest part of the house, the sitting room with an Inglenook fireplace is thought to have been built around 1450.

The Archbishops of Canterbury purchased Addington House in 1807 when they came to live in their summer residence, Addington Palace.

Addington is the only house on the Addington Palace estate still remaining.

The property is less than a mile away from Addington Palace which is known for having been the summer residence of the Archbishops of Canterbury between 1807-1897.

Addington House is steeped in history. It's believed the monarchy required the residents of Addington Manor to serve the king or queen a bowl of porridge upon his or her coronation.
