Coronavirus prompted unprecedented action around the world with many normal liberties being banned as countries grappled to handle rising rates of the deadly virus. Both the UK and USA have this week announced new lockdown easing measures. England's chief medical officer Chris Whitty today warned of the importance of balancing risks calling it a "difficult calculation".
The United States has the highest number of cases for any country in the world with around 29.7 million cases of COVID-19 so far.
By comparison, the UK has confirmed more than 4.2m cases.
The USA has also vaccinated the highest number of people with more than 60.9m vaccinated with at least one dose so far, followed by 52.5m in China and 22.2m in the UK.
Proportionally, however, the UK has vaccinated around a third of its population compared to 18.62 percent in the USA and 3.79 percent in China.

As both the USA and the UK continue to vaccinate their populations, Covid rules are being altered to adapt to these changing environments.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has revealed fully vaccinated Americans can return to some sense of normalcy.
This means around 31.5 million people who have been fully vaccinated in the US can recommence some of normal life.
Health officials unveiled new safety guidelines for fully vaccinated Americans on Monday - but how do these compare to the rules in the UK?

Britons were able to take their first steps towards normalcy this week as Prime Minister Boris Johnson's first stage of lockdown easing began on March 8.
From Monday, primary and secondary schools in England were reopened, with authorities urging all students to return.
Pupils will be urged to undertake testing both at home and at school and they will be expected to wear face masks in the opening weeks.
School sports have also returned for both indoor and outdoor activities.
Wraparound childcare has also returned meaning before and after school clubs can recommence.
For older students, university students can return for practical courses.

Outside of school and education settings, two people from different households are now permitted to meet outside for recreation.
While the stay at home message remains in effect, recreation has now become one of the official reasons one is permitted to leave their home as well as for work, education, medical need or for exercise.
The recreation can include meeting members of your household, bubble or one person outside your household outside in public spaces for socialising which may include a coffee on a park bench or a one-on-one picnic.
Care home residents are also permitted to have one designated visitor who is permitted to hold hands with them, but other close contact is not permitted.

In the USA, health officials have said fully vaccinated Americans can meet indoors with other fully vaccinated people without face masks or social distancing.
These people are also entitled to meet unvaccinated people indoors as long as they are from a single household.
Those who are at high risk for severe illness from the virus should avoid meeting indoors with others if they have not been fully vaccinated.
Those who have been fully vaccinated can also skip testing or quarantine when exposed to COVID-19 unless symptoms appear.
However, not all rules have been scaled back across the USA.
Those who have and have not been fully vaccinated should avoid undertaking any non-essential travel and avid large crowds.
Fully vaccinated Americans must also continue to wear face masks and observe social distancing spacing when in public.
The CDC said vaccinated people are still at risk of spreading Covid to the unvaccinated, as data on this remains sparse.
The new guidelines in particular call for mask-wearing and distancing from those who are unvaccinated and may be at an elevated risk of serious Covid-related complications.
