Taye Diggs was all business on Sunday.

While many award shows delve into current events, the 50-year-old entertainer kept things off of political and social commentary and focused on the show while hosting the Critics' Choice Awards.

Diggs, who's hosting the show for the third year in a row, broadcast from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California for the CW, while others involved in the ceremony appeared virtually.

The All American star did address the ongoing coronavirus crisis and its impact on the award season stalwart.

'This year's show is obviously a little different, social distancing means that most of our presenters and nominees will be watching the show from afar and since most of them are in their living room,' he said.

The Murder in the First star noted that the show had an international reach, and showed virtual tables of artists organized by project.

Diggs business-first monologue came a week after Tina Fey and Amy Poehler made the HFPA's lack of diversity in their monologue hosting the Golden Globes.

Fey brought up the controversy that unfurled amid news there were no Black journalists amid the 87 people in the HFPA.

'Look, we all know award shows are stupid ... the point is, even with stupid things, inclusivity is important and there are no Black members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association,' she said. 'I realize, HFPA you many not have gotten the memo ... but you got to change that.'

Diggs, who was clad in Giorgio Armani and Louis Vuitton tuxedos for the ceremony, joked: 'I'm probably the only person on the show not wearing sweatpants - I called award show casual: formal on top, comfy on the bottom.'

Diggs was styled for the event by stylists Sarah Edmiston and Zadrian Smith, who told The Hollywood Reporter that Diggs was someone they had 'always wanted to work with' professionally.

'We really love this idea of working with people whose values and morals align with us and what he's been doing - with the books that he's been writing,' Smith said, 'and how much of a great father he is and the projects that he's working on - this is the kind of person that we want to work with.'
