Like most high school students, Shanya Robinson-Owens applied to a slew of colleges and universities to ensure she had a place to land next after graduation.

Unlike most in her cohort, though, Robinson-Owens found herself with a delightful dilemma. She not only was flooded with acceptances but also with offers for money. Lots of money.

In total, between the 18 schools that have accepted her application so far, the senior at George Washington Carver High School in North Philadelphia has received $1 million in scholarship offers. She had applied to 20 in total.

Although she has been a star student for her entire life, her aunt Christine Owens told WPVI-TV, money came as a complete surprise.

"We're not surprised she did get into all of the schools, we're just surprised by the amount of financial award letters she's been receiving," her aunt, Christine Owens, told WPVI-TV. "I've just been keeping track of all of the acceptances and prizes she's been giving, and it's just adding up day by day."

"We are overjoyed," Owens told "Good Morning America." "I knew she wouldn't have a problem getting into colleges, but we didn't know they would award her this much money in scholarship funds."

Among the potential lucky institutions are Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; La Salle University in Philadelphia; Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri; Temple University in Philadelphia and Cabrini University in Radnor, Pennsylvania, and others, Robinson-Owens told "GMA."

"I was pretty excited," Robinson-Owens told "GMA." "I wasn't really expecting it."

Robinson-Owens is still touring campuses and has not made a decision, she told CNN, adding that she wants to evaluate her options carefully based on more than money.

The high school senior, who is set to graduate in June, plans to study psychology. She's got until May 1 to decide, according to WPVI.
