A 12-year-old boy was arrested after participating in four armed carjackings in about an hour last week in Washington D.C.

According to ABC News, the first incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday when the suspects, the age of the second of which is unknown, approached an idling vehicle, pointed a gun at the driver and demanded they exit the vehicle. The victim did not comply and fled the scene.

The process repeated itself about 45 minutes later but that victim also fled the scene.

About five minutes after that failed attempt, the suspects showed a third victim the gun and demanded the keys to the vehicle before the suspects ran away.

"At approximately 7:24 pm, the suspects approached the [last] victim, who was seated in their vehicle, in the 1000 block of Evarts Street, Northeast," the Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement. "One of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded the victim exit her vehicle. The victim complied and the suspects fled the scene in the victim's vehicle. One of the suspects was apprehended a short time later. The victim's vehicle was recovered."

The 12-year-old was arrested later Thursday night. The second suspect was seen on surveillance footage but remains on the run.
