Got the travel bug? So do we. Sucks that we can't do much with it right now, but hey - we can still dream, can't we? So let's get dreaming.

Think about your top travel destination. You know, the number one spot you've always wanted to go to, near or far. Got it? Good. Now picture this: you've collected all of those loose coins from under your couch cushions and you're dishing them all out for a luxury stay in a treehouse rental. Sound too good to be true? Well, it isn't.

Treehouse rentals exist quite literally all across the globe, spanning across each and every continent. Well, minus Antarctica due to the lack of trees, but you get the gist. There are options close to home and across the globe that will make your average home rental look drab. A night in the trees is exactly how you should spend your next vacation no matter where it may be.

We know, we know. You can't just hop on a plane to Thailand alongside your best carry-on suitcase right now and spend two weeks in the treetops. Due to everything that's going on in the world, international travel is still a bust, but you can still travel closer to home. There are a number of treehouse rentals appearing on Airbnb right in the United States, so you don't have to go international. Additionally, Airbnb's outside the US are incredibly easy to book deep into the future, so there's no hurt in looking even if your treehouse vacay is a few years out.

Whether you're looking for a quick weekend trip within driving distance, planning for a trip abroad in the distant future or just want to check out some travel inspo, here are the coolest treehouse rentals across the globe from Airbnb.

1. Willow Treehouse, Willow, New York

New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, heck, even you, Pennsylvania. If you're looking for a quick weekend getaway that's just a short drive away, check out the Willow Treehouse in Willow, New York. This wooden home sits high atop a swimmable pond hidden between the trees just outside Woodstock. It's a quiet place to get away from all the hullabaloo you've been dealing with over the past year. Feel free to cook, read, swim, birdwatch, hike - whatever. It's suggested you pack lightly, this getaway is only accessible by ladder.

2. Peaceful Treehouse with Ocean View, Aptos, California

Welcome to the Hotel California. Or, the Treehouse California. This striking treehouse sits right on the western coast of the US, giving vacationers insane views of the Pacific Ocean. The interior furniture and accents are made with natural materials to create a sanctuary of sorts where occupants can chill out and relax. Anything you might need, the Peaceful Treehouse has it, from free parking to a washer/dryer and even beach supplies.

3. Romantic Tree House Retreat, Trion, Georgia

Just an hour and forty-five minutes outside Atlanta lies the small town of Trion, where the Romantic Tree House Retreat lays peacefully. This brand-new luxury-style treehouse was only recently completed in June 2020, so you'll be one of the first people staying here for one of the most romantic weekends in the woods. It sits on 15 acres of land which you can feel free to explore and includes a full kitchen, a deck with a gas BBQ, a balcony leading off of the bedroom and a relaxing Japanese Ofuro soaking tub. It really doesn't get any better.

4. Ryders Treehouse, Baird, Texas

You know what they say - everything's bigger in Texas. Like, just look at that private yard. Almost smack dab right in the middle of the Lone Star State sits Ryders Treehouse, the perfect place for you and your lover to spend some time together. It's located on an 800-acre working ranch around 10 miles outside local cafes and 30 miles outside any restaurant. So, bring some burgers to cook up. On the property, you can explore, take some photographs and even fish if you want.

5. Crystal Peak Lookout, Fernwood, Idaho

Oh, you thought Idaho was just potatoes? Well, you're right. It's like, mainly potatoes. But, Idaho also has this insane treehouse perfect for a romantic getaway. The interior feels quite homey and is filled with bright colors, 360-degree windows for tons of natural light, a wrap-around porch and a wood-burning fireplace to stay cozy at night. This spot makes watching the stars at night accessible even from bed, so you can't beat that. On the property, there is an outhouse for when you need to use the bathroom and even a sauna you can use.

6. Treehouse of Life, Puerto Rico

You don't need a passport just yet to visit the Treehouse of Life. This Puerto Rican paradise sits in the middle of a tropical landscape, swaddled inside lush greenery and striking flora. This tree was planted years ago for the sole purpose of eventually being turned into a treehouse, making it that much more special. Wake up to the cockle-doodle-doo of roosters and fall asleep to a choir made by local ribbiting frogs, the way nature intended you to sleep. When it rains, calmly listen to each individual drop hitting the metal roof. Keep in mind, there aren't any walls, meaning, yes, you'll be out in the elements. Bats, birds, frogs, and geckos occasionally make their way up and into the Airbnb, so keep that in mind before renting.

7. Le Nid d'Elfe, Saint-Calixte, Québec, Canada

Up north in Canada stands the treehouse you dreamed about when you were a child. Only an hour outside Montreal, Le Nid d'Elfe is easy to access for both Canadians and Americans alike by car. Unlike our other choices that are made more for two, this space can hold up to five guests comfortably. You do have to bring your own sheets, sleeping bags, towels and food, but for this stay it's more than worth it. Just one question for you: how's your French?

8. Casa da Árvore, Alter do Chão, Pará, Brazil

The most jaw-dropping treehouse rental in all of South America is located right in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. It has all of the charm you could ever possibly want in a treehouse, including numerous hammocks, a swing, tons of outdoor space and of course, lush greenery as far as the eye can see. It's only around 160 feet to the beach, so you can spend the entire day heading back and forth without a problem. The space fits eight guests in total, so feel free to bring a couple of pals for the vacation of a lifetime.

9. Lost Garden, Poznan, Wielkopolskie, Poland

Talk about ultramodern. The Lost Garden in Poland sits high among the treetops, yet has a very different look than most treehouse rentals we're used to. Sitting as what is essentially a large rectangular box with large windows throughout, this rental redefines the word "treehouse." The interior is pretty minimalist and looks somewhat unfinished, but that's part of the designer's aesthetic. Included you'll find a living space, a small kitchenette, a bedroom with a view to the outdoors and a bathroom. Unlike the others mentioned in this list, the Lost Garden is pretty close to town, so you won't necessarily be in the middle of nowhere.

10. Boutique Nature Villa, Rapla County, Estonia

While we're still in Europe, check out this modern treehouse rental hidden in the Estonian wetlands. If you've never heard of Estonia, it's a country in eastern Europe that's known for its really well-preserved medieval architecture. Though, this structure is far from medieval. The Boutique Nature Villa was created for an immersive experience with nature - one that feels comfortable, clean and luxurious. It's a treehouse made for two, so couples should look no further.

11. Whispering Pines Cottages, Banjar, Himachal Pradesh, India

It's time to hop on a flight, we're headed to Asia. India, to be specific. This humble abode is situated amongst lush Indian mountaintops with views you really can't understand unless you go. It's deemed one of the most successful Airbnbs in all of India, featuring a balcony, double bed and modern bathroom inside. Also, don't be fooled, when Whispering Pines Cottages says "treehouse," they mean it. There is quite literally a tree running directly through the structure!

12. Treehouse De Valentine, Balamban, Central Visayas, Philippines

Over in the Philippines stands the Treehouse De Valentine, a three-bedroom, three-bathroom treehouse rental suited for up to eight guests in total. This rustic luxury sits directly on top of a small, swimmable stream immersed in the middle of lush greenery. Included is a wooden bathtub, numerous hammocks for napping or reading and tons of open space. If you're going anywhere with a group of friends after quarantine, it should absolutely be here.

13. Nairobi Dawn Chorus, Nairobi, Kenya

Start your African Safari adventure in luxury with the Nairobi Dawn Chorus treehouse located amongst a slew of trees in a river valley. Here, you can do something you never knew you wanted to: bathe outside under the stars in the middle of the African jungle. Does it get any better than that? It's perfect for a couple and their kids, but note that the host refuses to have anybody under the age of 12. It's a long drop down, if you know what we mean.

14. Tree House on the Beach, ile sainte marie, analanjirofo, Madagascar

Located directly on top of what's said to be one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Madagascar sits this breathtaking beach treehouse with a coastal view. It sits amongst a hundred-year-old tree with a bed right inside the tree trunk. You won't be in the middle of nowhere during your stay since the treehouse is part of a larger resort. Additionally, commodities are close - the airport is just a five-minute drive and the closest city is 15 minutes away. Nonetheless, it's paradise. The best part of all? By staying here, you will be directly contributing to the tuition of the children in the village so they can get an education.

15. Two bedroom Treehouse, Tarzali, Queensland, Australia

Last but not least, we're heading Down Under to this six-bed treehouse located in the middle of a private rainforest. There are six treehouses in total, so you won't quite be alone here either, but it is as close as it gets. This treehouse rental has a number of luxurious amenities, including a large bathtub, a space for outdoor eating, a full kitchen and visits from an array of wild animals you won't see anywhere else in the world.
