Australia has a 'prime opportunity' to rid itself of 'French dud sub' contract

Sky News host Chris Smith says if the French wish to ignore signed agreements on shipments of the coronavirus vaccine, Australia should "tear up" the unpopular French submarine contract.
France may use European Union export laws to block the international distribution of coronavirus vaccines.
Italy recently barred a shipment of AstraZeneca jabs to Australia, insisting it had a greater need for the doses.
The French health minister said the government may decide to keep doses to speed up France's domestic rollout.
"What do the French think they're up to," Mr Smith said.
"What a prime opportunity to rid ourselves of a fleet of French duds, in the form of those $90 billion submarines. It is just perfect," Mr Smith said.
"If the French wish to ignore signed agreements on shipments of the vaccine, no real skin off our nose, let's tear up the sub agreement, which not too many Australians want, it's has been a cost blowout embarrassment, and will be redundant technology by the time they're built".
