EastEnders stars Jessie Wallace and the late Dame Barbara Windsor reportedly got into a vicious row off camera on set of the popular soap opera.

TV agent Melani Blake said Jessie, 49, and Barbara, who sadly died last year after a battle with Alzheimer's disease at the age of 83, fought on the Queen Victoria set and "went at it like cats".

Speaking to The Sun, Melanie, who used to be a runner, explained: "I met [Kathy Beale actress] Gillian Taylforth at Elstree when my job was basically carrying cables at Top of the Pops, and she advised me to join an extras agency.

"She gave me her number, I phoned up an extras agency, and a week later I was in the Queen Vic and I saw Jessie Wallace and Barbara Windsor blow up at each other off camera in a scene like I have never seen broadcast."

Jessie, who played Kat Slater, and Barbara, who played Peggy Mitchell on the BBC soap, were likened to cats as Melanie continued: "They went at it like cats.

"A lot of people would have run for cover, but I was like, 'Hello showbiz'."

OK! Online has approached representatives for both Jessie and Barbara for further comment.

Barbara, whose former co-star Jake Wood recently shared plans to remember her in a memorial after lockdown, previously spoke out about her feud with Jessie.

Back in 2013, she said: It was down to her unprofessionalism. She was young. She was always late."

"I lost my temper. I erupted. I am so sorry I did that now. It wasn't very nice. I felt like one of the Krays," she continued to tell Mirror Online.

Barbara added: "Afterwards, I burst into tears and ran to the producer. I said I had been terrible, an amateur, and cried again."

Iconic actress Barbara was laid to rest by her loved-ones on Friday 8 January. On the cover of the order of service, a beautiful picture of Barbara was placed and it read: "In Loving Memory of Dame Barbara Ann Windsor.

The Carry On star's service began with Frank Sinatra's Sunnyside of the Street playing as mourners entered the building.

This was followed by a welcome and opening prayer and then over the course of the service, hymns, tributes and songs were played and delivered.

Barbara's beloved pals Christopher Biggins and her former Eastenders co-star Ross Kemp delivered eulogies as a tribute to her.

A number of pictures adorned the order of service booklet, including snaps of Barbara during her Carry On days and a photo with her husband, Scott Mitchell.

One stand out picture showed the Eastenders star in her iconic Carry On look, with her blonde hair and standing naked while she covers her breasts.

Alongside it, a quote from Barbara read: "That picture will follow me to the end." A response from Scott said: "Yep!!! Rest in peace my darling Bar, my love forever Scott xx," with a red heart.
