Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has revealed that captain James Tavernier is struggling to shake off the injury sustained in the 4-3 win against Royal Antwerp in Belgium.

The right-back attempted to play on before being forced off, and with Leon Balogun also a doubt, Nathan Patterson could be handed a rare start when the Gers face Livingston this evening.

Gerrard will also be without Kemar Roofe and Ryan jack but expects the duo to be back next week. His skipper, however, is a more complex case.

"James' recovery has been slower than we wanted," Gerrard said. "It's difficult to put a date on his return.

"He hasn't had a setback, it's one of those injuries where you have to be patient. Sometimes you just have to let them take their course.

"In an ideal world, he'll have a positive week this week and get some good news - because if anyone deserves to be around when the team gets over the line, it's James Tavernier."
