(Bloomberg) -- Ten rockets targeted an airbase in western Iraq that hosts U.S.-led coalition troops with initial reports of no casualties.
There was no immediate claim for Wednesday's attack on Al Asad Airbase, which comes amid heightened tensions in the Gulf. Earlier this week an oil tanker off the coast of Iraq discovered a mine attached to its hull.
The same base was targeted last February in an attack which the United States blamed on Iran and in which around 100 service members suffered head injuries.

Wednesday's attack is being investigated by Iraqi special forces, coalition spokesman U.S. Col. Wayne Marotto said in a tweet. There were no casualties or material damage, a spokesman for Iraq's joint operations command, Major General Tahseen al-Khafaji, said separately.
The attack comes ahead of a visit by Pope Francis to Iraq beginning March 5.
