Demi Lovato is done with "beauty" filters. The star posted a TikTok video (which she also later shared to Instagram Reels) about the popular beautifying filters that do everything from smoothing and perfecting skin to changing the shape of the user's face or nose and shared that she's sorry for using them herself in the past.

In the video, Demi poses with one of the said filters on; her nose is noticeably slimmed, her brows lifted, and her skin looks unreal. Demi shared her thoughts via text blurbs on the video, writing, "My skin is not this smooth," and "Wait do I need a smaller nose?" She points out that her eyes have been changed too, and indeed, she looks like a different person with the filter on.

The filters in question exploded in popularity via Snapchat, and are now prevalent on almost every popular social media app. With filters like these, you can change your entire appearance and present a totally different face to the world. They're fun to use, but they can be damaging too, giving users unrealistic expectations of beauty and impossibly high standards to live up to, especially when used undisclosed. "Thank God these weren't around when I was 13 but also... how are teens supposed to learn to accept themselves with this sh*t?" Demi wrote.

Demi also took a moment to apologize for her prior use of similar filters in the past. "Thank God I'm realizing this now and I'm sorry for using them without realizing how dangerous they were before," she wrote on the video. Demi has always been vocal about her struggles with body image and recently talked about her new short haircut and how it's changed her outlook. "I feel so free. I feel more authentic to who I am. I also feel like I used to hide behind my hair," she said. "I've talked a lot about my past and being in recovery from an eating disorder. I used to use my hair to hide behind. It would cover my body. So when I started doing all this work on myself, I thought, 'What is something that I've been holding onto my whole life that I need to let go of?' And it was that. I feel more myself now."

Demi has nothing to hide - whether it's behind her hair or a filter - and we love her for it.
