Good Morning Britain erupted into a furious debate over Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's actions out of the Royal Family. ITV host Piers Morgan clashed with podcaster Kristen Meinzer as they debated the claims the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made about "toxic" backlash. Mr Morgan, in particular, hit out at the couple's upcoming interview with American chat show legend Oprah Winfrey.

He told viewers: "If you want privacy and want to be left alone, you don't do Oprah for two hours.
"It's a complete joke.
"And you particularly don't do it after hearing, as they had earlier that day, that the Duke of Edinburgh, aged 99, had been taken to hospital.
"He's now on his 13th day in hospital."

The host added: "I'm sorry, I think we're entitled to say that this is incredibly distasteful."
Former tabloid journalist Eve Pollard added: "Every family has got its little glitches.
"But having your family discussed on TV with Oprah Winfrey rather worries me.
"Also the fact that they've extended it to two hours because there's obviously a lot in there."

Ms Meinzer countered the criticism, pointing to examples of racist coverage that the Duchess had faced since her relationship with Harry became public.
She told GMB: "Calling Meghan Markle 'Straight out of Compton', which is clearly trying to make an allusion to her being a gangster, and very specifically a black gangster.
"Also an article comparing her to a jihadist. Why would she be a jihadist because she was working on a charitable cookbook? That is racist."

The Oprah interview is due to be broadcast on March 7.
US television network CBS has released a promotional clip ahead of the special.
In the footage, Harry compares his and Meghan's experience to his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.
The Duke said: "I'm just really relieved and happy to be sitting here, talking to you, with my wife by my side.
"I can't begin to imagine what it must have been like for her, going through this process by herself, all those years ago because it has been unbelievably tough for the two of us, but at least we had each other."
