Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane is remaining coy over the future of club captain Sergio Ramos.

Ramos, who has been arrived at the club in 2005 from Sevilla, is out of contract at the end of the season and has not played since suffering a knee injury in mid-January.

The centre back will be 35 by the time his current deal and while Ramos did not move abroad during January's transfer window despite the option being on the table, Los Blancos are struggling to agree terms with their most longstanding player as Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain reportedly entertain the idea of pouncing to sign Ramos on a free transfer in the summer.

Speaking ahead of Monday night's LaLiga clash at home to Real Sociedad, Zidane said: 'You always ask me the same thing - he's an impressive man. I want him to get fit, but apart from that, nothing else. Tomorrow we have a game.'

Ramos is expected to be out for at least another five weeks after tearing the meniscus in his left knee, with El Clasico potentially his first game back on April 11.

With Covid-19 causing even the richest clubs to tighten their belts considerably, Real might be unwilling to offer Ramos any contract at all, whether it is a two-year deal or the one-year contract routinely handed out to players older than 30.

As long as the injury heals well, there is no reason for United not to maintain their interest in the Spaniard, with Goal reporting that Ramos has apparently spoken to former team-mate David Beckham about a possible move to Old Trafford, while Mauricio Pochettino has refused to quell speculation that the French giants will put in a bid.

'We will see in the coming months. Here, Ramos would find a great club with the obsession to always win. PSG are one of the biggest clubs in the world,' he said in January.
