More than two weeks after a pregnant mother-of-five was found shot to death inside her wrecked car in Pittsburgh, the father of one of the victim's children has been charged with the killing. 

An arrest warrant was issued on Thursday for 24-year-old Jason Brown, charging him with criminal homicide and carrying firearms without a license.

Brown, who is currently jailed in Venango County on unrelated charges, is accused of shooting and killing 22-year-old Katara Bray while riding in her car as a passenger on February 8.

According to a criminal complaint cited by WPXI, Bray, who has four young children, including one with Brown, had just found out that she was pregnant again. Police said the woman did not want her fifth child to be Brown's.

The incident began unfolding at around 9pm on February 8, when police and EMS responded to a report concerning a car that had struck a utility police in the 4400 block of Davison Street.

Upon arrival, first responders discovered Bray slumped in the driver's seat with gunshot wounds to the head and neck. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

In the course of the police investigation that followed, detectives learned that a man was observed running from Bray's car at the time of the shooting.

Police found the passenger door open and gathered evidence suggesting that a gunshot was fired from inside the car.

Additional interviews with witnesses revealed that earlier that night, Brown and Bray were seen getting into the car together.

A search of the car uncovered Brown's phone and a fingerprint matching his on the passenger door, according to the complaint.

A passenger airbag had been deployed when the vehicle smashed into the pole, indicating that someone had been sitting there.

Detectives also found hospital discharge papers bearing Brown's name.

Bray lived in McKeesport and worked as a medical assistant to support her four young children.

Bray wrote in her final status update just hours before her death: 'I Got Called Super Mom 2 Weeks Ago.'

Those who knew Bray described her as a doting and hardworking mother. 

'She was a great mom, she was a great daughter, a great sister and what happened to her she didn't deserve it at all,' friend Tionna Toombs told WTAE.
