"He's been my guy for a while, I'm a Blazers fan, for a long time I just followed a few players around the league, but I really honed in on Dame probably a few years ago and made me a Portland man," Kelly said.
While Lillard has been on fire for the Blazers this season, building a strong MVP case, his exploits in the bubble only solidified things for Kelly.
"It was insane, I guess that's why I'm a big fan of his, I just loved his mindset in that situation when [Patrick] Beverly and [Paul] Geroge and those guys on the sidelines were giving him a bit of stick after probably not being as clutch as he normally is The way he bounced back and put the team on his shoulders. He was the bubble MVP and it was pretty special to see what he was doing, that's for sure."
Lillard was selected for his sixth All-Star appearance this week, as the NBA shifts focus to its marquee weekend over the mid-season break, an event Kelly looks forward to every year.
"The Slam Dunk contest is always a bit of fun, just seeing the athleticism there and the thing they're able to pull off it's just insane," he said.
"The other thing I really look forward to is just seeing who's actually going to take over the All-star Game. There's always that fine line between not taking it too seriously and having a bit of fun, but there's always that one guy that really turns it on and goes for that MVP award, so it's always fun to watch."

Despite his busy schedule, Kelly says watching the NBA is always on his mind, with his fellow GWS Giants teammates firing up NBA League Pass whenever they can at the team's practice facility.
"A lot of my time's been spent watching NBA on days off, in between training sessions, we've got a bit of a fantasy competition at the Giants as well which is a bit of fun so no doubt keeping up to date with it all," he said.
"We've always got the basketball on the TV when the games are on but the fantasy competition is probably the pretty constant conversation.
"We did the draft night before the season and picked our squads and that's been a lot of fun. I'm sitting about mid-table so I'm not doing as well as I would've liked, I had a few issues on draft night and took some picks I regret, but we've got a good squad at the Giants so we get around it and follow it pretty heavily."
