The door of the Fry's Electronics store in Palo Alto is covered on Jan. 1, 2020.

Bay Area home electronics retailer Fry's Electronics is permanently closing all of its stores across the country, according to news reports.

News of the electronics retailer's nationwide closing was first reported by KRON. The retailer was not commenting on the report. KRON said it learned the retailer will announce the closure on Wednesday morning.

The company's Twitter account was locked on Tuesday night, and it's Facebook account was not available.

In November, as retailers struggled with the pandemic, Fry's Electronics announced that it was closing its Campbell store. But it already was having trouble before the pandemic. In December 2019, the company closed its Palo Alto location.
