The Duke texted close friends a few weeks ago that he and the Duchess were expecting their second child, according to a source. The Prince was described as being "on cloud nine", as he broke the news to his pals, while swearing them to secrecy. The source told the Daily Mirror: "Harry excitedly messaged a whole host of his friends a few weeks ago saying that Meghan was pregnant and that the two of them were thrilled to bits.
"He had them all sworn to secrecy though so he's absolutely overjoyed to finally share the news with the world.
"This was quite some time before the announcement at the weekend."
They added: "Harry was practically on cloud nine.

"He was so happy at letting them all know and sharing in their happiness."
Despite news of the pregnancy, Meghan and Harry are said to be continuing with their plans to launch their Archewell foundation in the spring.
They are expected to announce a series of collaborations with charities and new podcasts on Spotify as part of the publicity around the launch.

The foundation will focus on causes such as the more equitable provision of mental health services and "racial and economic justice in the tech sector".
The name Archewell is derived from the Greek word "arche", meaning "source of action".
In a statement last year explaining their choice of name for their foundation the Duke and Duchess said: "We connected to this concept for the charitable organization we hoped to build one day, and it became the inspiration for our son's name.

A leading Democratic strategist claimed that the foundation could open the path for Meghan to one day pursue a political career.
