Manchester City took a huge step towards reclaiming the title with a stunning, record equalling victory at Anfield.
Pep Guardiola's brilliant side blew champions Liverpool away with devastating performance that gave them their 14th straight win in all competitions - to match the English football all time top-flight record, held jointly by Preston and Arsenal.
And afterwards, their outstanding young talent Phil Foden - who scored the goal of the game to confirm City's dominance over their biggest rivals - insisted the title is now there for the taking.
"It's brilliant. We showed our courage from minute one, and [the win] gives us every chance to go on and win it now," he said.
"When you beat the champions everyone's confidence goes sky high. It can only help us. We haven't won here for a bit so we're just happy to win here today.

"The job ain't done and we've still got a long way to go. This is what we need to keep doing, putting the points on the table and hopefully make it in the end."
City hadn't won at Anfield since 2003, but they dominated the game, with Ilkay Gundogan scoring twice and also missing a penalty.
The visitors capitalised on two shocking errors from home keeper Alisson, for a victory which gives Pep Guardiola his first ever win here over Klopp's men.
The City boss insisted there is still a long way to go in the title race, but he was full of pride at his side's display. "I'm proud of the guys. They are the guys who broke the record which shows how difficult it is," he said.

"The quality of the players made the difference - once again our mentality was so strong, we have such a tough mentality. But I'm not a guy who predicts the future and in February five points is nothing."
Liverpool were destroyed by Alisson's errors, which saw them collapse in the second half, prompting television pundit Roy Keane to condemn them as "bad champions".
"They are making a lot of excuses. To me they've been bad champions. You can lose a game of football but...I can't figure this group out," he said.
"I think maybe they've believe the hype, almost as if they won the league last year and got a big carried away. Obviously it was a long wait, 30 years, but I never heard any of the players come out and say 'I want to do it again'. That's the key.

"Now they're talking about trying to get in the top four...from winning the league last year. The top four is now where our targets are?!"
Manager Jurgen Klopp though, insisted his side had played well, but were undone by Alisson's errors - though he refused to point the finger at his keeper.
"Big parts of the game were really, really good. It's not the last game of the season. There are a lot of games to come," he said.
"And if we would have played more often as we played tonight, we would not be 10 or 13 points behind City. It's not dreamland or whatever, we have to accept reality and we do. We will fight for results."
Asked what he said to Alisson, he replied: "I said to him 'we have stands, you can shoot the ball there!'
"Look, it's a mistake, but different things came together. We didn't offer exactly the right things. In the first half, Ali played exceptional football and was really calm on the ball.
"He didn't see the offers because we didn't make them in the right way, and then the problem is that he doesn't shoot the ball somewhere far away from the danger spots.
"He knows that. I can't help him through the night. We all have nights like this, and tomorrow he will be OK again. He has saved our lives I don't know how many times.
"He's absolutely a world class goalie. Tonight some things went a little bit wrong and we have to take that."
