The Lincoln Project has utilized Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's apparent take down of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) in a new attack ad.

McConnell (R-KY) criticized what he branded "loony lies and conspiracy theories" earlier this week, in pointed comments widely deduced to be aimed at Greene.

A clip from The Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump group which has also turned fire on his allies, shares the comments in what it has called "a message from Mitch McConnell to Marjorie Taylor Greene." The video includes clips of both the lawmakers, with comic book-style text popping up over them.

McConnell, in remarks first reported by The Hill earlier this week, said: "Somebody who's suggested that perhaps no airplane hit the Pentagon on 9/11, that horrifying school shootings were pre-staged and that the Clintons crashed JFK Jr.'s airplane is not living in reality.

"This has nothing to do with the challenges facing American families or the robust debates on substance that can strengthen our party."

He also said that such conspiracies were a "cancer for the Republican Party."

In subsequent comments, Greene said: "The real cancer for the Republican Party is weak Republicans who only know how to lose gracefully.

"This is why we are losing our country."

Newsweek has contacted The Lincoln Project for comment. McConnell and Greene's offices have also been contacted for comment.

The Lincoln Project's advert comes after Greene previously took issue with comments from the group criticizing House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

Greene said in a tweet: "The Lincoln Project are the REAL traitors!

"You aren't Republicans.

"You are nothing but a bunch of America last losers.

"You wallow in the same pit with the bloodthirsty media and the socialist democrats."

The project has also frequently criticized Greene and commented on calls for McCarthy to remove her from committee positions.

Republican lawmakers voted not to do so in a secret ballot on Wednesday.

Greene faces a continued backlash over previous comments and actions. House lawmakers are due to vote on whether she should be removed from her committee posts on Thursday, with Democrats having pushed for this.

In a previous statement to Newsweek, Greene criticized Democrats for "coming after" her.

"Democrats and their spokesmen in the Fake News Media will stop at nothing to defeat conservative Republicans," Greene said.

"They are coming after me because I'm a threat to their goal of socialism. They are coming after me because they know I represent the people, not the politicians. They are coming after me because, like President Trump, I will always defend America First values.

"They want to take me out because I represent the people. And they absolutely hate it."
