It was a case of waking up and smelling the victory-infused coffee for Everton fans, many of whom were delighted after their side's 2-1 victory over Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds United.

The Toffees secured sweet revenge, having been defeated 1-0 by Leeds in the reverse fixture at Goodison Park in November.

Taking three points back from Yorkshire, a well-worked cross from Lucas Digne was met in front of goal by Gylfi Sigurdsson for a cool finish, whilst a clever set piece routine saw Dominic Calvert-Lewin back on the scoresheet. A scare from Raphinha shortly after half-time made for a nervy and tetchy second half for the Toffees, but Everton commanded their lead well and secured victory at Elland Road.

While there were plenty of crucial figures in Ancelotti's side who wielded a tremendous influence, Abdoulaye Doucoure was one player singled out by Everton on Twitter for his efforts.

Alluding to his work rate, the club generated a tsunami of praise by simply tweeting 'Abdoulaye Doucouré. Probably still running', accompanied by a battery emoji which was emblematic of the steady energy the Frenchman provided in midfield.

In an all-action performance, the 28-year-old won five of his six duels, made two interceptions and recorded two key passes (Sofascore).

These Everton fans took to Twitter to ensure that the defensive midfielder knew of their high appreciation.
