Jon-Michael Ecker is the man behind Teresa Mendoza's (played by Alice Braga) ex-boyfriend in Queen of the South. Ecker's character Guero is the reason why Teresa gets mixed up in the world of drug cartels in the first place so she has a lot to blame and thank him for. However, his story in the USA Network drama didn't end well.

Guero was believed to be dead for the majority of the first season of Queen of the South but it was later revealed he had been taken by the DEA.
When he got away from the DEA, Guero later disappeared once again but this was at the hands of Camila Vargas (Veronica Falcon) who wanted information on Teresa.
He was able to escape once more with Teresa's help but as they drove away, Guero was shot by one of Camila's hitmen.
Teresa lost the love of her life yet again but this time it was for real as he lay dead in her lap as she fled the scene.

What else can you watch Queen of the South star Jon-Michael Ecker in?
Ecker got his first big break in 2011 when he starred in Colombian soap opera Popland!
He portrayed a character called Ari Morales and was one of the leading stars in the telenovela which was about Carla, an aspiring photographer who wanted to leave her small town to find more adventures elsewhere.
The following year, Ecker starred in action crime drama Fearless Heart as Pablo Peralta but this ran for just one series.
Ecker's next big role was then in 2013 in the Mexican version of Gossip Girl, set in the city of Acapulco.

Netflix subscribers may also remember Ecker from another popular drug dealing series.
He played The Lion in Narcos in seasons one and two, working as Escobar's (Wagna Moura) first drug smuggler into Miami.
The Lion goes on to run Escobar's Miami operations but in season two, he meets the Cali Cartel who agrees to start trading with them. However Ecker's character is then killed when he becomes useless to Cali.
Following his role in Narcos, Ecker had numerous smaller parts in shows such as NCIS New Orleans, Criminal Minds and Chicago Fire.

Ecker has once again grabbed the attention of fans as he stars in a new series on Netflix.
The Queen of the South star is in heartwarming drama Firefly Lane which came out on the streaming service on Wednesday, February 3.
In the new series, based on the book of the same name written by Kristin Hannah, Ecker plays Max Brody.
Tully (Katherine Heigl) has a one-night stand with the kind-hearted EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) but writes him off as he is a lot younger than her.
But as time goes on, Tully continues to meet up with Max and sees he has a lot of depth and is a strong character.
Max and Tully develop a sexy and complicated romance with neither of them knowing where it is going.
Besides from Heigl, Ecker is also in Firefly Lane alongside Sarah Chalke, Ben Lawson, Beau Garrett and Jenna Rosenow.
Queen of the South is available to watch on USA Network and Netflix.
