Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder Dele Alli has taken to Twitter to drop a bit of a hint about his discontent with Spurs boss Jose Mourinho.

This comes as the 24-year-old has not played a prominent role in the Portuguese coach's plans this term, with the Englishman having been on the pitch just 4% of the time for Tottenham in the top flight this season, per Transfermarkt.

Alli's Twitter hint

Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp recently spoke to talkSPORT where he declared that Mourinho must get Alli back to his best by reintegrating him into Spurs' first-team, explaining that this is a key part of the 58-year-old's job, in Redknapp's view.

After audio of Redknapp urging Mourinho not to "just discard" Alli, but instead, try to get his Tottenham career back on track, was shared by @talkSPORT on Twitter, the out-of-favour £34.2m-rated man 'liked' their tweet.

This 'like' came after the Spurs man liked one other tweet which shared footage of Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson praising Alli and similarly calling for Mourinho to get him playing again.

So, with Alli liking these tweets, it certainly seems like he is frustrated with Mourinho and that he agrees with these pundits' claims that he has been a star for Spurs during his time at the club, and that he still has plenty to offer to the club.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claimed that Alli was 'pushing' to leave Spurs in January amid interest from PSG, who are now under the tutelage of ex-Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, however, Daniel Levy allegedly refused to sanction this loan move in the end.

It's clear from what Romano said, and from Alli's Twitter activity, that his lack of game time is a major issue for the player and it seems like Levy's decision not to allow him to leave in January to get more game time elsewhere, despite Mourinho seemingly not wanting to give it to him at Spurs, has struck a raw nerve.

So, it will be interesting to see if life does improve for Alli at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and if more chances are on the way as we approach the final stretch of the 2020/21 season, or if these latest developments signify that his relationship with the Portuguese manager cannot be repaired.

In other news, The Guardian has dropped an injury return update on Giovani Lo Celso.
