Celtic skipper Scott Brown will discover on Thursday if he is to face retrospective punishment for a clash with Kilmarnock's Aaron Tshibola on Tuesday night.

Record Sport understands a three man panel of former grade one referees will study TV footage of the flashpoint which was captured on camera during Celtic 's 4-0 romp at Rugby Park.

Brown appeared to catch Tshibola on the chin with an elbow but, as the incident was not spotted by match official Kevin Clancy, it will now be referred to the same disciplinary procedure which hammered Rangers strikers Alfredo Morelos with a three game ban last week after the Colombian stamped on Hibs defender Ryan Porteous.

Ibrox boss Steven Gerrard admitted that he could not defend Morelos for the incident but stressed on Tuesday that he wants the SFA top brass to apply greater levels of 'consistency' when dealing with disciplinary reviews.

Brown's tussle with Tshibola is believed to be one of a 'few' items to be considered by the panel from last night's action.

A Hampden source confirmed: "Any issue arising from last night will be assessed by an expert panel of former referees and they'll report back by 9am tomorrow.

"If any are unanimously decided then clubs will be informed by 3pm tomorrow."
